Serve Robotics and Grubhub announced a partnership to launch an autonomous food delivery service using Serve Robotics' robots. The collaboration integrates the robots directly with Grubhub's platform, enabling customers to order food for delivery via autonomous vehicles.
The service will initially operate in Los Angeles and San Francisco, expanding Grubhub's delivery options beyond traditional human couriers. Serve Robotics' robots, designed for sidewalk navigation, will handle last-mile deliveries from participating restaurants.
The partnership follows Serve Robotics' recent expansion of its autonomous delivery fleet in Los Angeles, where it has operated since 2022. Grubhub, a subsidiary of DoorDash, will manage customer orders and logistics through its existing infrastructure.
Serve Robotics, a startup focused on autonomous delivery solutions, has not disclosed financial terms of the partnership. The company has raised over $100 million in funding to date, according to public records.
Grubhub has not provided details on the expected scale of autonomous deliveries or potential cost savings. The service is expected to launch in the coming months, pending regulatory approvals.
