Itron Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) has announced a technology collaboration with Crytica Security to integrate rapid cyber threat detection capabilities into its grid infrastructure systems. The partnership, announced on September 22, 2026, incorporates Crytica's Rapid Detection, Alert and Isolation (RDAi) technology into Itron's Grid Edge Intelligence portfolio.
The RDAi technology provides continuous monitoring and alerts for utility grid-edge infrastructure, such as intelligent devices, meter-hosted applications, and edge workloads. It uses a lightweight probe that monitors systems and generates alerts when unauthorized changes to instruction sets are detected. The probe operates at under 100 kilobytes and is designed for resource-constrained operational environments.
Don Reeves, Itron’s Senior Vice President of Outcomes, stated: "Utilities are moving intelligence closer to the edge of the grid, and cybersecurity must move with it. Our collaboration with Crytica builds on that foundation by adding rapid, embedded threat detection designed for the next generation of grid-edge applications."
