Indonesian equities slipped at the close of trade on Wednesday, with the IDX Composite Index falling 0.67% as losses in financials, agriculture and basic industries offset gains elsewhere.
The benchmark gauge ended at 7,801.27, down 53.12 points, after 380 stocks declined, 266 advanced and 183 were unchanged. Regional peers were mixed, with the Philippines’ PSEi up 0.3% and Thailand’s SET down 0.4%.
Financial shares, which account for about a fifth of the index by weight, led declines after the central bank’s latest guidance suggested a prolonged pause in monetary easing. Agriculture stocks also retreated on weaker palm oil prices, while basic materials slipped alongside softer coal and metals prices.
Among individual movers, Pt Oxala Energy International Tbk surged 28.23% to 159.00 after reporting a 15% increase in second-quarter net profit. Tifa Finance Tbk added 24.84% to 382.00, while Fuji Finance Indonesia Tbk rose 24.04% to 258.00. Fast Food Indonesia Tbk fell 14.72% to 452.00 after reporting a 9% drop in same-store sales.
The hardest-hit large caps included Transcoal Pacific Tbk, which slid 12.42% to 2,680.00 and hit a five-year low, and Dwi Guna Laksana Tbk, which lost 11.86% to 312.00.
Commodities were broadly firmer outside gold. October Brent crude rose 0.20% to $91.20 a barrel, while October WTI gained 0.26% to $84.28. December gold futures eased 0.15% to $4,413.75 an ounce.
The U.S. dollar index fell 0.20% to 99.36, while the USD/IDR pair dipped 0.13% to 17,822.90.
