Gold futures advanced during the European trading session on Thursday, with December contracts on the Comex rising 0.06% to $4,650.41 per troy ounce.
The December gold contract held above the session low of $4,565.50 but remained below the intraday resistance at $4,755.00. The modest gain occurred as the U.S. dollar index futures, which track the greenback against six major currencies, gained 0.05% to trade at $99.14.
Silver futures for September delivery rose 0.42% to $68.32 per troy ounce, extending gains from the prior session. Copper futures, however, declined 0.48% to $6.57 per pound, reversing earlier advances.
The mixed performance in precious and industrial metals reflected cautious trading ahead of key U.S. economic data releases scheduled later in the week. Market participants remained focused on macroeconomic indicators that could influence Federal Reserve policy expectations.
