CitroTech Inc. (NYSE AM: CITR) has partnered with Athena Intelligence to combine geospatial intelligence with its fire-inhibitor technology for wildfire prevention applications.
The collaboration links Athena's Voice of the Acre platform—which analyzes vegetation, fuel characteristics, weather, moisture, topography and landscape conditions to assess wildfire risk—with CitroTech's CitroSafe wildfire defense systems. Those systems are designed for automated deployment at homes based on fire location, spread rate, wind conditions and ember exposure.
Athena incorporated CitroTech's laboratory and field performance data into its models to evaluate impacts on flame height and rate of spread. The platform has generated more than 38,000 geospatial fire-behavior profiles across the western United States. Analysis of CitroTech's performance data across 48% of those profiles showed approximately a 50% reduction in key fire-behavior characteristics, according to the company.
The initial focus of the partnership is residential wildfire protection, with expansion into utilities, municipalities and insurance applications.
"Wildfire prevention resources are finite, and knowing an area is high risk isn't enough to tell a utility, community, or homeowner what to do next," said Kevin Schaff, CitroTech's global head of business development.
CitroTech, headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colorado, manufactures fire prevention solutions for homes and wood products. Its fire inhibitor is recognized by the EPA Safer Choice program. Athena Intelligence provides geospatial risk intelligence to utilities, insurers and communities.
