BRP Inc. unveiled two off-road concept vehicles under its Can-Am brand, signaling a strategic push to reinforce its position in the global powersports market. The Defender Prerunner and Maverick R XRay were introduced at the company's Valcourt, Quebec headquarters, reflecting a broader product roadmap that includes major off-road announcements every six months through 2030.
The Defender Prerunner is a 6X6 configuration built on the Defender platform, designed as a race support vehicle. It features 35-inch tires, a four-seat cab with Sparco seats, and a LinQ bed for storage. The Maverick R XRay, constructed on the Maverick R platform in a two-wheel drive configuration, targets sand riding with an exoskeleton structure, integrated lighting, translucent backlit panels, an active roof spoiler, and paddle tires. Its lighting system shifts to red under braking and supports programmable patterns.
BRP reported annual sales of CA$8.4 billion and operations in over 110 countries, employing nearly 17,000 people as of January 31, 2026. The company, which also owns Ski-Doo, Lynx, Sea-Doo, and Rotax engine brands, emphasized its focus on becoming the leading off-road brand globally. "Our efforts are sharply focused on becoming the number one brand in off-road and the OEM of choice for dealers around the globe," said Sandy Scullion, President of Powersports at BRP.
Alain Massicotte, SSV Director of Design and Innovation at BRP, described the concepts as an opportunity to reimagine two iconic nameplates. "We are exploring the realm of possibilities for the evolution of Can-Am DNA, both practically and aesthetically," he stated.
