Brazil’s Bovespa index ended 1.55% higher on Tuesday, driven by advances in real estate, consumption and financial stocks.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 620 to 339 on the B3 exchange, with 32 stocks unchanged. The CBOE Brazil ETF Volatility index, which measures implied volatility for Bovespa options, rose 2.65% to 31.82, marking a one-month high.
Among the top gainers, Magazine Luiza SA surged 9.13% to 4.55, Sendas Distribuidora SA added 7.82% to 8.97 and Cury Construtora e Incorporadora SA climbed 7.49% to 32.55.
Braskem SA led decliners with a 13.11% drop to 4.10, while Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref fell 2.11% to 7.00 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA declined 2.05% to 45.96.
Commodities showed mixed performance, with gold futures up 0.48% at $4,720.16 per troy ounce and crude oil futures down 5.13% at $80.65 per barrel. Coffee futures fell 1.99% to $334.85. The U.S. dollar weakened 0.11% against the Brazilian real to 5.15, while the euro held steady at 6.01.
