Bitcoin.com has integrated USDU, the United Arab Emirates’ first central bank-registered US dollar stablecoin, into its self-custodial wallet for web and mobile users.
Issued by Abu Dhabi-based Universal Digital, USDU is the only Foreign Payment Token currently registered under the UAE Central Bank’s Payment Token Services Regulation. The stablecoin is also authorized by the Abu Dhabi Global Market’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority to issue fiat-referenced tokens. Users can now hold, send and receive USDU on the Ethereum network through Bitcoin.com’s wallet, with swap and buy-and-sell features expected to follow via third-party providers.
The company plans to accept USDU for designated services and expand its use for peer-to-peer and merchant payments across its platforms, though availability will vary by jurisdiction. USDU was launched in January under the UAE’s regulatory framework, which restricts payments for digital assets and derivatives to fiat or registered Foreign Payment Tokens.
The integration aligns with USDU’s broader distribution strategy. Zodia Custody began supporting the stablecoin in July for institutional clients, and a USDT-USDU liquidity pool was introduced on Uniswap in August to enhance decentralized trading.
