SMI beginnt mit Kursziel-Updates und Franken-Verlust

The Swiss Market Index (SMI) opens the trading day with a slight rise of 0.5 percent, according to the IG Bank report. At the same time, Swiss stocks are receiving new price targets and valuations from various analysts. Roche is up 0.25 percent, while the Swiss currency weakens slightly amid the fallout from the US interest rate decision. The Swiss franc rate drops to 0.8256 francs per dollar, due to the increased attractiveness of the US dollar, supported by higher yields on US Treasuries. The Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 0.25 percentage points, which further reduced yields on long-term US Treasuries and calmed the bond markets, while the dollar gained in value. The Fed also signalled another interest rate hike for this year, which weighs on the market sentiment for riskier assets such as stocks. Oil prices for Brent and WTI fall slightly once again, to 105.60 and 102.19 dollars per barrel, following reports on alternative supply routes from Saudi Arabia and a possible de-escalation of the Iran conflict, which should mitigate concerns about supply shortages. The gold price, on the other hand, rises by 1 percent to 20,500 dollars per ounce, due to the uncertainties in the commodity market and the US interest rate decision. The US rate hike has also affected Asian stock markets: the Nikkei 225 traded almost unchanged, while the Shanghai Composite fell by 0.3 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial lost 1.21 percent, the S&P 500 0.45 percent, while the Nasdaq 100 added minimal gains. The shares of Intel, AMD and Marvell Technology are up, while JB Hunt and Boeing are under pressure. Swiss mid-cap stocks such as Helvetia Baloise and Swissquote ride popular price gains of more than 1.8 percent, while Rieter and Ypsomed are suffering from valuation changes: Rieter loses 6.8 percent, Ypsomed 1.7 percent. Roche receives a price target of 410 francs from Vontobel, which is slightly above the current price of 405 francs, while the rating remains at Buy. Rieter is assessed by UBS at Sell with a price target of 2 francs, while Burkhalter lowers the price target for ZKB from 151 to 137.70 francs. Octavian rates Schindler's preferred shares at 320 francs, which is slightly above the current price of 310 francs, and the rating increases from Hold to Buy. Stifel rates Ypsomed at Hold with a price target of 380 francs, representing a downward correction. The Swiss stock exchange is set to have a friendly start, while the earnings season is slowly coming to an end and important economic data such as foreign trade and watch exports for August are expected. In addition, the Council of States is discussing the Bank Secrecy Act for UBS, which could affect the stability of the financial system. The first interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve in over three years has influenced the markets, with the central bank showing a clear determination to combat inflation. The US economy remains under observation, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence, where demand for semiconductors and computing power continues to rise, while companies such as Boeing and JB Hunt are facing new challenges.
