Lucid, Bolt Partner to Deploy Autonomous Vehicles Across Europe

Lucid Group Inc. (NASDAQ:LCID) and Bolt announced a partnership on Wednesday to develop and deploy autonomous mobility services across Europe, focusing on an SAE Level 4 self-driving vehicle platform.

Under the agreement, Bolt will deploy at least 25,000 fully autonomous vehicles built on Lucid's upcoming Midsize platform across multiple European cities and countries. The deployment is part of Bolt's broader goal to have 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035.

The vehicle platform will be built around NVIDIA Hyperion, a production-ready autonomous vehicle reference architecture and development platform. Lucid's newly established Lucid Technologies unit — which focuses on AI, advanced driver-assistance systems, autonomy and digital functions — will lead development of the software and safety parameters.

Bolt intends to own and operate the fleet. Bolt Autonomous Driving Solutions will participate from product development through commercial operation, according to the companies. Both firms will work alongside autonomous-driving technology partners and European regulators and policymakers to support the introduction of the services.

Lucid manufactures its vehicles at facilities in Arizona and Saudi Arabia. Bolt operates in over 50 countries and 850 cities, providing ride-hailing, scooter and e-bike rental, and car rental services to more than 200 million customers.

"Shared autonomous mobility offers the perfect opportunity to extend our unique technology beyond consumer vehicles. Bolt's reach and operating expertise make it an ideal partner to scale autonomous mobility across Europe," said Silvio Napoli, chief executive of Lucid.
