Swiss satellite technology firm SWISSto12 announced a memorandum of understanding with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, opening the door to collaboration on satellite payloads, radio frequency products, and market development across Japan and the Asia Pacific region.
The partnership combines Mitsubishi Electric's satellite system expertise with SWISSto12's proprietary 3D-printing technology for satellite payloads.
In a related development, Mitsubishi Electric awarded SWISSto12 a contract to supply phased array antenna products for the Japanese government's geostationary orbit secure communications program.
Emile de Rijk, CEO of SWISSto12, said he was "proud to partner strategically with MELCO and support the next-generation sovereign communications system of Japan." Masahiko Arai, executive officer and group president of defense and space systems at Mitsubishi Electric, added that the companies would leverage their respective strengths to pursue business opportunities in Japan and international markets.
SWISSto12, founded in 2011 and based in Renens, Switzerland, reported revenue of $140 million in 2025 and holds contracted orders exceeding $500 million. More than 2,000 of its products are currently in orbit.
