Migros Bank has appointed Clemens Eckert as its new Chief Operating Officer, replacing Stephan Wick, who is retiring after 22 years with the institution. Eckert will assume the COO role on December 1 and is expected to join the bank's management board during the first quarter of 2027.
Eckert arrives from Swisscom, where he spent the past 11 years in its Banking division, rising to lead the Banking Solutions unit. Since 2016 he has served on Swisscom's management team, most recently overseeing a division that provides process support, IT systems and banking platform services to more than 100 banks. Prior to Swisscom, he held COO roles at Switzerland's Centrum Bank and worked as a senior consultant at Credit Suisse and Accenture.
"We were able to secure an experienced leader and a recognized IT and operations expert," said Manuel Kunzelmann, Migros Bank's CEO. "With his extensive experience in the banking sector, particularly in operational excellence, process optimization, IT solutions and banking platforms, he will make an important contribution to strengthening our operational capacity."
Wick's departure follows a lengthy tenure marked by significant modernization at the bank. During his time at the helm of operations, he introduced and expanded e-banking, centralized internal processes, upgraded the core banking system, restructured the branch network and steered the move toward a modern, digitally oriented retail presence.
