Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. (9508) has announced a strategic investment in ProLogium, a Taiwan-based battery technology developer, to deepen collaboration on next-generation lithium ceramic batteries and explore joint manufacturing in Japan. The partnership expands beyond existing research and commercialization efforts into direct capital participation, aiming to leverage ProLogium’s proprietary solid-state technology alongside local industrial capabilities for applications in construction machinery and electrified vehicles.
ProLogium, founded in 2006, specializes in lithium ceramic batteries, holding over 1,200 global patents. It commercialized its core technology in 2013 and has delivered more than 2.4 million battery cells, including 10,000 automotive samples. In 2025, it introduced its Superfluidized Inorganic Next-Generation Lithium Ceramic Battery, which received a Gold Edison Award in 2026. The company operates a Taoyuan Gigafactory in Taiwan, an R&D hub in Paris-Saclay, France (established in 2024), and is advancing a second gigafactory in Dunkirk, France, with Phase 1 targeting 4.0 GWh annual capacity by 2030.
ProLogium’s U.S. expansion is advancing through a May 2026 business combination with Translational Development Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: TDAC), with plans to list on Nasdaq under the ticker PRLG, pending SEC approvals. The investment underscores Kyushu Electric’s commitment to advancing battery technology for Japan’s electrification push, aligning with broader industry trends in solid-state and high-energy-density storage solutions.
Vincent Yang, ProLogium’s CEO, emphasized the partnership’s focus on sustained collaboration, highlighting the potential for joint manufacturing and technology scaling to meet growing demand in electrified industries.
