AnalogAI Licenses Microchip IP for Edge AI Processors

AnalogAI, a Seoul-based company, has licensed Microchip Technology's memBrain Synaptic Analog Generative Engine (SAGE) IP. The IP is based on Microchip's Silicon Storage Technology (SST) SuperFlash technology and has been deployed in 40 nanometer and 28 nanometer foundry processes. Microchip's current technology roadmap includes 22 nanometer development.

The memBrain SAGE IP includes memory logic elements, optimized digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital converters, and proprietary test circuitry. SuperFlash memory is designed for applications requiring fast access times and data retention without external memory components. AnalogAI will use this IP to develop processors that operate at or below one watt for edge applications, targeting markets such as robotics, drones, and vehicles that can adapt to environmental changes.

AnalogAI's processors feature algorithms designed to train and run inference on AI models simultaneously. Jaejun Lee, CEO of AnalogAI, stated that the memBrain SAGE IP best enabled them to accelerate development time while achieving ultra-low-power and high performance required in their market segment. Mark Reiten, Senior Vice President of Microchip's Intelligent Compute business unit, noted that AnalogAI is pursuing solutions for edge AI inference that enable devices to adapt in real-time to environmental changes.
