Agility Robotics, based in Salem, Oregon, has introduced Digit 5, the successor to its Digit 4 humanoid robot, for industrial use. The company said it has secured more than $300 million in multi-year orders for Digit 5 as of May 2026, subject to the satisfaction of certain contractual milestones. The robot is intended for deployment at customer sites including GXO, Schaeffler, Amazon and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, and Agility is the business combination target of Churchill Capital Corp XI (NASDAQ:CCXI).
Digit 5 can repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, a 40% increase compared with its predecessor, Digit 4. The robot stands 5 feet 11 inches tall, can reach heights of up to 7.2 feet and weighs 284 pounds. Its battery system provides 90 minutes of runtime and charges in 9 minutes, enabling more than 20 hours of work in a 24-hour period. Safety features include human detection using AI algorithms and sensors, visual and auditory motion cues, and an independent safety controller.
Digit 5 uses swappable grippers with ISO-standard mounting flanges, supporting tasks ranging from tote handling to machine tending. Agility said the robot will utilize NVIDIA's IGX Thor and Halos Core infrastructure. The company's RoboFab facility in Salem is designed to produce up to 10,000 units annually at full capacity.
Digit 4 has logged more than 65,000 hours of operational time across customer sites, while GXO's Flowery Branch facility reached 100,000 totes processed with approximately 98% accuracy while on-task. Agility expects early access for Digit 5 in the first half of 2027 and general availability by the end of 2027, with planned commercial deployment in the European Union and United Kingdom for the first time.
