Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA) has announced the launch of the KC401 self-service kiosk, targeting retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and healthcare environments. The kiosk is designed to automate routine tasks such as price checks, inventory availability searches, and product returns. It features an Android-based operating system, a 10-inch impact-tested, scratch-resistant display, and IP65-sealing for protection against dust and liquids. The KC401 can be equipped with an optional scanner for hands-free scanning workflows and uses the same mounting solutions and infrastructure as Zebra’s existing CC6000 kiosk, enabling upgrades without replacing current installation hardware. It is integrated with Zebra DNA, the company's software suite for device setup, security, and management, and is designed for high-traffic environments and frequent cleaning to meet hygiene standards.
According to Coresight Research, more than 60% of retailers report that shoppers struggle to find products and navigate stores. Self-service solutions, such as the KC401, free up approximately four associates per store on average, representing about 22% of front-of-store labor capacity. The KC401 expands Zebra’s self-service portfolio, which includes kiosks, mobile computers, and multipurpose touchscreens. The portfolio incorporates solutions from Elo, which is now a part of Zebra Technologies.
James Poulton, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Mobile Computing at Zebra Technologies, stated, “As customer expectations for speed and convenience continue to grow, self-service technology serves as a defining feature of the modern store and other environments.”
