Xcel Energy has placed a follow-on order for three additional Xos Hub mobile energy storage and charging systems, the companies said on Monday.
Two of the units will support rapid charging for Xcel Energy’s fleet vehicles at service centers in Arvada and Grand Junction, Colorado. The third unit will provide temporary charging capacity for customers in Denver, where electricity will be unavailable for several hours during grid improvement projects.
The new order follows an initial deployment of two Xos Hub units in 2024. Since then, the Colorado-based system has delivered approximately 33,000 kilowatt-hours of charging capacity, according to the companies.
Xos Hub systems can be operational within days, compared with the six to eighteen months typically required to install permanent direct-current charging infrastructure. The mobile units are charged from the grid during off-peak hours, enabling electricity costs to be reduced by up to 40% compared with standard DC fast chargers in certain applications.
In January 2026, Xos expanded its Hub line to three capacity tiers, with the largest unit offering up to 630 kilowatt-hours. The company also recently secured a follow-on order for twelve units from an autonomous fleet operator. Xos manufactures electric commercial vehicles, including the Xos Stepvan and Class 8 trucks, alongside mobile and stationary energy storage systems.
