Unum Group said its board has approved a new $1 billion share repurchase program, authorizing buybacks beginning Sept. 1, 2026. The current program, which allows repurchases up to the same amount, remains active until Aug. 31, 2026, after which all buybacks will fall under the new authorization.
Repurchases may be conducted through open market transactions, private negotiations, or pre-arranged trading plans compliant with Rule 10b5-1 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. The board retains discretion to suspend, modify, or terminate the program at any time.
The Chattanooga, Tennessee-based insurer operates workplace benefits and services under the Unum and Colonial Life brands, offering disability, life, accident, critical illness, dental, and vision insurance, as well as leave management and behavioral health services.
