John Mazarakis, executive chairman and director of Chicago Atlantic Real Estate Finance, Inc. (REFI), acquired 145 shares of the company’s common stock on August 21, 2026, according to an SEC filing reported on August 25.
The transaction, valued at $1,547 at a price of $10.67 per share, follows a second-quarter earnings report that fell short of Wall Street expectations. REFI’s shares, trading at $10.80, remain near a 52-week low of $9.69. The company maintains a dividend yield of 17.4%.
Mazarakis’ direct holdings now total 478,851 shares. Indirect beneficial ownership includes 5,000 shares held by his spouse and 31,524 shares through his interest in Joppa Seasoning, LLC, though he disclaims pecuniary interest in the latter.
REFI reported second-quarter 2026 earnings per share of $0.43, missing the consensus estimate of $0.47, and revenue of $12.83 million, below the anticipated $13.93 million. Management attributed the shortfall to the timing of capital redeployment.
In response to the earnings miss, Citizens adjusted its price target for REFI from $18 to $16 while retaining a Market Outperform rating. The revised target reflects a reduction from 1.27 times book value to 1.13 times book value.
