TOMI Environmental Solutions (NASDAQ: TOMZ) reported that its SteraMist iHP enclosure product line has generated $2.3 million in purchase orders year-to-date, marking a 44% increase compared with the $1.6 million the line produced over the preceding four years combined.
Two purchase orders arrived within the past week. A portion of both is expected to be recognized as revenue this quarter upon delivery, with related services to follow next quarter.
The surge in orders reflects a shift in how TOMI approaches sterilization equipment. Elissa J. Shane, the company's chief operating officer, said the firm "can now move from interest to purchase order, and from purchase order to delivery, on a timeline that prior custom work could not support." The SteraMist Integration System platform enables more standardized products than the company's earlier custom-built solutions.
SteraMist iHP technology relies on Binary Ionization Technology, originally developed under a grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The systems are designed for controlled environments used in life sciences research, manufacturing and quality operations—specifically biosafety cabinets, isolators and aseptic filling enclosures.
Recent customer transactions included retrofits of SteraMist iHP technology into existing enclosures, one customer replacing chlorine dioxide with the iHP system and another transitioning away from its current decontamination method.
Separately, TOMI's Custom Engineered Systems division maintains an active pipeline of $3.2 million, distinct from the enclosure-order figures reported.
The company also disclosed it is working with one domestic and one international partner on a standardized iHP chamber called SteraBox, intended for recycling, electronics refurbishment and circular-economy applications.
