Swiss watch exports rose 9.6% year-on-year to 2.63 billion Swiss francs in July, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH) reported on Thursday.
The increase follows a 11.2% gain in June and maintains the recovery trend observed since mid-year, when year-to-date exports turned positive at +0.9% after a brief decline in the first half. Growth was driven by a sharp rebound in key markets, particularly the United States, where shipments jumped 26.5% in July—more than double the 12.7% rise recorded in June.
France, the second-largest export market, saw exports more than double (+104.6%), reinforcing its role as a logistics hub for Swiss watches. The surge in French imports follows strong gains in May and June, though the FH noted that current demand does not fully reflect the country’s elevated shipment volumes.
Japan, the third-largest market, recorded a 3.7% decline in July, while the United Kingdom, the fourth-largest, posted a 9.5% increase. Within price segments, the top tier—watches priced above 3,000 francs—grew 12.0%, while the lowest bracket (200 to 500 francs) surged 26.1%, signaling renewed consumer interest after four consecutive years of decline in this category. Mid-priced watches (500 to 3,000 francs) declined 3.9%.
