StoneX has reiterated a buy recommendation for Tesla with a price target of $475, citing the company’s upcoming launch of its fully autonomous Cybercab robotaxi as a key catalyst. The vehicle, a two-seater designed exclusively for ride-hailing, features no steering wheel, pedals, or manual controls and will operate via Tesla’s Robotaxi app in Austin.
The Cybercab is positioned as the most energy-efficient electric vehicle in Tesla’s lineup, with a lab-tested range of 418 miles and energy consumption of 165 watt-hours per mile using a 48 kilowatt-hour battery. Analysts estimate a base price below $30,000, representing a 55% discount compared to Waymo’s comparable service on the same route.
Tesla’s stock has gained 16% in August, with a price-to-earnings ratio of 327, according to InvestingPro. StoneX’s target exceeds the consensus, which leans toward a hold rating. Morgan Stanley maintained an equal-weight rating with a $400 price target.
Tesla reported a 3.6% year-over-year increase in August vehicle sales in China, totaling 86,166 units of the Model 3 and Model Y from its Shanghai factory. In contrast, sales in Spain fell 78.8% year-over-year to 304 units, though year-to-date figures show a 4.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
The Cybercab launch event took place in Austin on Thursday. Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system has expanded testing in France following provisional approvals in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, and Lithuania, ahead of a potential European Union-wide vote on regulatory standards.
