Starbucks Corp. eliminated 104 positions on Thursday as its restructuring program nears completion, including roles within the team responsible for store design and construction. The cuts follow the relocation of its corporate headquarters to Nashville, where approximately 120 workers chose not to relocate from Seattle and were subsequently separated.
The company expects its new Nashville office to eventually employ around 2,000 workers. Since last year, Starbucks has reduced its corporate workforce by more than 2,300 roles as part of a broader initiative to streamline operations and achieve $2 billion in cost savings over two years under Chief Executive Officer Brian Niccol.
The restructuring has involved workforce reductions across the U.S. and internationally, with Washington state regulators cited in Bloomberg’s report. The initiative was first announced in May alongside the company’s cost-cutting targets.
