The planned initial public offering of Chinese fast-fashion retailer Shein has been postponed from August to September, according to a report citing sources familiar with the matter.
The Hong Kong listing, initially slated to commence this week with a targeted valuation of $25 billion, has been pushed back as the company seeks to onboard additional anchor investors. The revised timeline places the subscription period to begin on August 24, following the original plan for a $25 billion valuation—one-quarter of the $100 billion valuation set during a funding round four years prior.
Shein had previously estimated its valuation between $30 billion and $40 billion. The delay reflects efforts to strengthen investor confidence amid volatile market conditions and secure commitments from major backers before proceeding.
Investment banks managing the offering are also considering participating as anchor investors through their own funds, according to the report.
