Banco Santander S.A. said it completed a share buyback program valued at €305.9 million, acquiring 11.4 million of its own shares between Aug. 27 and Sept. 2.
The purchases were executed across four trading platforms—XMAD, CEUX, TQEX and AQEU—at a weighted average price ranging from €12.50 to €12.74 per share. On Sept. 1, the bank bought its largest single-day tranche of 3.2 million shares at an average price of approximately €12.52.
The buyback program was announced on Aug. 10, 2026, following approval by Santander’s Board of Directors. As of Sept. 2, the program had reached 16.8% of its planned investment value. The bank’s ordinary shares, traded under ISIN code ES0113900J37, were repurchased in compliance with European Market Abuse Regulation and related delegated regulations governing share buyback programs.
Since 2021, Santander has repurchased about 18.1% of its outstanding shares, reflecting a sustained capital return strategy. The latest program underscores the bank’s commitment to returning value to shareholders through structured buybacks.
