Sabanci Renewables, a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Turkey's Sabancı Holding, disclosed plans for the Alina Solar Power Plant in southern Texas near San Antonio. The project will have a capacity of 220 MWdc and is expected to generate roughly 400 GWh of electricity each year.
Alina is the fifth solar asset in Sabanci Renewables' U.S. portfolio, which has now exceeded 1 GW (1,010 MWdc) after less than four years of development. The portfolio spans Texas' largest metropolitan areas—Houston, Dallas, Corpus Christi, Waco and San Antonio—covering more than 80% of ERCOT's total demand.
The plant is scheduled to reach commercial operation in the third quarter of 2028. Current work focuses on engineering designs, while construction will commence after securing tax‑equity financing, project‑finance agreements, long‑term electricity sales contracts, EPC and equipment supply arrangements.
Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, Strategic Investments and Operations President of Sabancı Holding and CEO of Sabancı Climate Technologies, said the project reflects the company's long‑term growth strategy in the United States and its confidence in strong demand fundamentals driven by AI, digital infrastructure and large‑scale technology operations.
The announcement underscores Sabancı Renewables' structured expansion approach, emphasizing asset acquisitions with solid fundamentals and a flexible portfolio designed for sustainable value creation over time.
