Rackspace Technology has launched Rackspace Cloud, a managed multitenant cloud platform powered by Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1, positioning itself among the first providers to commercialize the technology. The platform integrates virtual machines, Kubernetes and AI workloads onto a single managed service, offering pre-staged infrastructure, automated lifecycle management and 24/7 operations with elastic consumption.
Customers can scale capacity within hours without procuring hardware or managing underlying systems, while maintaining enterprise-grade isolation and security controls across multiple performance tiers. The platform is initially available in Dallas, with North Virginia and Chicago slated for rollout.
Rackspace cited Broadcom’s private cloud outlook indicating that 56% of organizations are running or planning production AI inferencing in private clouds, down from 56% to 41% year-over-year for public cloud inference. The company will demonstrate the platform at VMware Explore 2026 in Las Vegas from August 31 to September 3 as a Diamond Sponsor at Booth #104.
Bryan Litchford, Rackspace’s head of product, engineering and data centers, said the platform eliminates the tradeoff between agility and control by extending VMware’s governed environment to support evolving Kubernetes and AI workloads. Ricky Cooper, Broadcom’s vice president of global cloud service providers, said the offering combines Rackspace’s operational expertise with Broadcom’s private cloud platform to deliver managed cloud agility.
