Rackspace Technology launched Rackspace Cloud, a managed multitenant cloud platform powered by Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1, positioning the service to support virtual machines, Kubernetes and AI inference workloads on a single infrastructure layer.
The platform, initially available in Dallas, will expand to North Virginia and Chicago in subsequent phases. It features pre-staged infrastructure, automated lifecycle management and 24x7 managed operations, alongside elastic consumption and enterprise-grade isolation and security controls. Rackspace said capacity can be scaled within hours without additional hardware purchases or underlying system management.
Rackspace operates as a Broadcom Advantage Partner and is among the first providers to deploy a managed multitenant platform on VMware Cloud Foundation 9.1. The company plans to showcase the offering at VMware Explore 2026 in Las Vegas from August 31 to September 3, where it will serve as a Diamond Sponsor at Booth 104.
According to Broadcom’s Private Cloud Outlook 2026, 56% of organizations currently run or plan to run production AI inferencing in private clouds, while public cloud use for production inference declined from 56% to 41% year over year. Bryan Litchford, Rackspace’s Head of Product, Engineering and Data Centers, said the platform removes the tradeoff between agility and control by extending VMware environments to support evolving workloads.
Ricky Cooper, Broadcom’s Vice President of Global Cloud Service Providers, said the collaboration combines Rackspace’s operational expertise with Broadcom’s private cloud technology to deliver managed cloud agility.
