Portugal’s benchmark PSI index declined 0.04% at the close of trade on Thursday, as losses in consumer services, utilities and technology offset gains in other sectors.
Advancing stocks slightly outnumbered decliners on the Lisbon exchange, with 13 shares rising against 12 falling and four unchanged. Banco Comercial Português led gainers, adding 2.50% to close at €1.15, followed by CTT Correios de Portugal at €6.58 (+0.77%) and Redes Energéticas Nacionais at €3.50 (+0.43%).
Among the biggest decliners, Altri fell 1.58% to €4.68, EDP Renováveis dropped 1.05% to €13.20 and The Navigator Company slipped 0.86% to €3.24.
Commodities showed mixed performance, with Brent crude futures for November delivery down 0.09% at $95.54 per barrel, while October crude futures rose 0.35% to $91.33 per barrel. December gold futures surged 2.84% to $4,539.90 per troy ounce.
In currency markets, the euro held steady against the dollar, with EUR/USD flat at 1.16 and EUR/GBP little changed at 0.86. The U.S. Dollar Index futures fell 0.62% to 98.93.
