Poland’s corporate sector wages rose 6.8% year-on-year in July, surpassing analyst forecasts of a 6.2% increase, according to data released Thursday by the national statistics office.
The average monthly wage reached 9,509.02 zlotys, up from 8,917.32 zlotys a year earlier. On a month-on-month basis, wages increased 1.1%, indicating sustained upward pressure in the labor market.
Employment in the corporate sector declined 0.8% year-on-year to 6.378 million people, slightly less than the 0.9% drop forecasted by analysts. The sector added 0.1% month-on-month, reflecting a modest improvement in hiring trends.
The mixed labor market data suggests persistent wage growth amid a gradual stabilization in employment levels. Analysts had anticipated a sharper contraction in corporate hiring, but the softer-than-expected decline indicates resilience in certain industries.
The statistics office did not provide additional context on sector-specific trends or underlying economic drivers behind the wage and employment dynamics.
