PENN Entertainment Inc. will invest $195 million to relocate and expand its Harrah's New Orleans casino, the company announced on Friday.
The project, subject to regulatory and licensing approvals, will involve moving the casino to a new site along the Mississippi River, replacing the existing facility. PENN Entertainment, which operates Harrah's New Orleans under a gaming license, said the relocation aims to modernize operations and enhance customer experience.
The investment includes funding for construction, technology upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. The company did not specify a timeline for the project but noted that it would create jobs during both the construction and operational phases.
New Orleans officials have previously expressed support for the relocation, citing potential economic benefits for the city. The existing Harrah's New Orleans casino, located in the Central Business District, has operated since 1999.
