United Launch Alliance (ULA) has appointed Mark Peller as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately, the company announced on Monday.
Peller, who previously served as ULA’s executive vice president of engineering, succeeds Tory Bruno, who led the company since its formation in 2006. Bruno will transition to a senior advisory role within the organization following his departure.
The appointment comes as ULA prepares for a leadership transition outlined in 2024, with Bruno’s planned retirement. Peller’s promotion reflects ULA’s internal succession strategy, emphasizing continuity in engineering and program leadership amid the company’s expanding role in national security and commercial space missions.
ULA operates as a 50-50 joint venture between Boeing Defense, Space & Security and Lockheed Martin Space, providing launch services for government and commercial customers. The company is a key provider of Atlas V and Delta IV rockets, with its Vulcan Centaur rocket slated for its first flight in early 2025.
No financial terms or additional details regarding Peller’s compensation were disclosed in the announcement.
