Optimum Communications said on Monday it has expanded an existing partnership with T-Mobile to gain access to the wireless carrier’s 5G Standalone network. The agreement supports Optimum’s broadband-mobile convergence strategy by integrating mobile services with its fiber internet network.
Under the multi-year deal, Optimum will leverage T-Mobile’s 5G Standalone platform to support smartphones, wearables, tablets, and other connected devices. The partnership also includes enhanced domestic and international roaming capabilities, connectivity solutions for businesses, and expanded coverage in rural areas across the United States.
Optimum, which serves approximately 4.3 million residential and business customers across 21 states, said it has surpassed 700,000 mobile lines under the expanded arrangement. The company operates Optimum Media, an advertising and data solutions business, and News 12, a local news network in the tri-state area.
Luciano Ramos, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Optimum, said the partnership would help accelerate innovation and enhance customer experiences. The deal builds on an existing relationship between the two companies, with Optimum previously providing internet and video services to T-Mobile customers.
