Saudi Arabia’s benchmark Tadawul All Share index fell 0.28% at the close of trade on Monday, weighed down by declines in the building and construction, insurance and cement sectors.
Declining stocks outnumbered advancers by 224 to 119 on the Saudi Arabia Stock Exchange, with 15 issues unchanged. The broad index ended the session at 12,103.21 points, reflecting a modest pullback in local equities.
Among individual movers, Middle East Specialized Cables Company led gainers with an 8.66% advance to 35.40 Saudi riyals, followed by East Pipes Integrated Company for Industry, which rose 5.36% to 196.70 riyals. Saudi Cable Company added 4.74% to close at 183.50 riyals.
On the downside, Al Sorayai Trading & Industrial Group slumped 9.98% to 17.68 riyals, while Umm Al Qura for Development and Construction fell 4.85% to 17.08 riyals. Saudi Tadawul Group Holding declined 4.55% to 130.00 riyals.
Regional energy benchmarks advanced as crude oil futures rose. October-delivery crude oil gained 3.08% to $85.97 a barrel, while Brent crude for December delivery climbed 5.25% to $90.64. December gold futures, however, retreated 0.89% to $4,489.61 a troy ounce.
Foreign exchange movements were subdued, with the euro and U.S. dollar holding steady against the Saudi riyal at 4.35 and 3.75 respectively. The U.S. Dollar Index futures slipped 0.12% to 99.54.
