Nvidia said on Monday it invested $3.5 billion in convertible bonds issued by MediaTek, expanding a multi-year partnership that now spans AI infrastructure, PC chips, and automotive platforms.
The collaboration centers on three technology areas. In AI infrastructure, MediaTek will adopt Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion platform, enabling hyperscalers, cloud providers, and frontier-model developers to build custom XPUs integrated into Nvidia’s rack-scale AI factories. Components include the NVLink Fusion chiplet, NVLink-C2C for connectivity between XPUs and Nvidia’s Rosa CPUs, and NVHBM for memory capabilities.
For local AI computing, the companies are extending work on Nvidia RTX Spark and DGX Spark PC chips for consumer PCs, AI developer systems, and enterprise workstations. MediaTek previously co-developed the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip powering Nvidia DGX Spark and is now collaborating on the next-generation Nvidia RTX Spark for consumer devices.
In automotive, the partners are building platforms for AI-powered, software-defined vehicles. MediaTek’s Dimensity Auto platforms integrate Nvidia technologies to deliver AI and RTX graphics for intelligent cockpits and operate alongside Nvidia DRIVE AGX systems.
Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said the expanded partnership leverages MediaTek’s system-on-chip design and power efficiency to bring accelerated computing to new markets. MediaTek Vice Chairman and CEO Rick Tsai said the investment strengthens a collaboration aimed at making advanced AI pervasive across cloud, PC, and automotive applications.
The announcement was made on Monday.
