Shares of Old Second Bancorp Inc. advanced to a 52-week high of $26.05 on Tuesday, marking the highest intraday price since mid-2023.
The Illinois-based regional lender’s stock performance outpaced broader banking indices, reflecting improved investor sentiment toward smaller financial institutions amid stabilizing credit conditions. Trading volume remained elevated relative to its 30-day average, indicating heightened market interest.
Old Second Bancorp, which operates as Old Second Bank, has not provided an official statement regarding the price movement. The company’s latest earnings report, released in late January, showed a 12% year-over-year increase in net income to $18.7 million for the fourth quarter of 2023.
Analysts attributed the stock’s rise to a combination of regional banking sector optimism and Old Second’s consistent profitability metrics. The bank’s tier 1 capital ratio stood at 14.2% as of December 31, 2023, above the regulatory minimum, supporting its resilience in a higher-for-longer interest rate environment.
