Oil futures advanced in the U.S. session on Wednesday, with benchmark contracts tracking gains across key global benchmarks. October West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 0.42% to trade at $82.01 per barrel at 16:30 ET.
Technical levels showed support at $79.65 and resistance at $87.69 for the October contract. The spread between Brent and WTI crude oil contracts widened to $4.61 per barrel, with November Brent oil futures on the Intercontinental Exchange climbing 0.74% to $86.62 per barrel.
The U.S. Dollar Index, which measures the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, also gained 0.25% to trade at 99.09, reflecting broader currency market dynamics during the session.
