MongoDB Inc. (NASDAQ: MDB) shares are expected to post a roughly 14% swing when the company releases its quarterly results on Sept. 1 after the market close, according to options data compiled by Bloomberg.
The implied volatility for the earnings announcement suggests a potential price change of 14%, which would be the largest single-day move since March, when the stock fell 26.7% following results. Historically, the company’s shares have moved more than the options-implied range in five of the past eight earnings reports.
The latest data point follows a 30.2% gain on Aug. 26, when the stock surged despite a 14.1% implied move. In contrast, the March report saw a 15.6% implied move followed by a 26.7% decline. The December 2024 and March 2025 reports also resulted in outsized moves, with the stock falling 9.8% and 25.7% respectively, compared with implied ranges of 13.3% and 13.7%.
The upcoming earnings release will mark the sixth consecutive quarter of results for MongoDB under its current reporting cycle. The company, which provides database software and cloud services, has seen its stock price fluctuate alongside broader software valuations amid shifting investor expectations for growth and profitability.
