Russian shares ended lower on Saturday, with the MOEX Russia Index little changed at 0.00% as gains in select blue chips were offset by declines in other bellwethers.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 153 to 73, with 20 stocks unchanged. The Russian Volatility Index (RVI) held steady at 47.81, while the U.S. Dollar Index futures rose 0.55% to 99.64.
Among the top gainers, Magnit PJSC led with a 1.70% advance to 1,528.00, followed by TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin Pref, which added 1.50% to 540.30. ROSSETI PJSC was up 1.73% to 0.05. On the downside, AFK Sistema PJSC fell 0.78% to 7.34, OZON dropped 0.69% to 2,174.00, and Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO shed 0.60% to 9.69.
Commodities traded lower, with gold futures for December delivery down 3.43% at $4,504.10 per troy ounce. Crude oil for October delivery declined 0.11% to $83.44 per barrel, while Brent crude for December fell 0.27% to $88.28 per barrel.
The ruble weakened against major currencies, with the USD/RUB rate down 0.19% at 86.14 and the EUR/RUB rate falling 0.78% to 99.77.
