Mexico’s benchmark S&P/BMV IPC declined 0.50% on Tuesday, closing at its lowest level in six months as losses in Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services, and Consumer Staples weighed on sentiment.
Advancing stocks trailed decliners by 112 to 129, with 12 issues unchanged. The index’s decline extended a recent soft patch, reflecting broader caution among domestic investors.
Among the top gainers, Gentera SAB de CV advanced 1.68% to 38.14, while Grupo Bimbo added 1.53% to 59.12 and Grupo Comercial Chedraui rose 1.22% to 92.10. In contrast, aviation operator Controladora Vuela fell 3.82% to 12.60, cement producer Cemex declined 3.79% to 18.26, and Grupo Televisa’s unit dropped 3.48% to 9.42.
Commodity markets showed mixed signals. December gold futures fell 1.88% to $4,389.50 per troy ounce, while October crude oil rose 0.81% to $84.42 per barrel. Brent crude for October delivery was little changed at $91.33. The Mexican peso held steady against the dollar at 17.06, while the euro strengthened 0.05% to 19.75.
