Mexican equities ended higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark S&P/BMV IPC index gaining 0.79% as gains in the industrials, consumer goods and services, and basic materials sectors offset declines elsewhere.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by a margin of 121 to 97, with 21 stocks unchanged. The index’s advance was supported by strength in key components, including Penoles, which rose 2.72% to close at 941.69.
Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico Class B added 2.00% to 354.53, while Alsea climbed 2.49% to 41.21. On the downside, Orbia declined 4.54% to 20.81, and Becle fell 2.52% to 14.29.
The Mexican peso held steady against the euro, with the EUR/MXN rate unchanged at 19.78. The USD/MXN rate eased 0.04% to 16.94, while the US Dollar Index futures rose 0.09% to 98.84.
Commodities showed mixed performance. December gold futures gained 0.39% to $4,715.90 per troy ounce, while October West Texas Intermediate crude fell 4.59% to $81.11 per barrel. November Brent crude futures rose 0.27% to $85.98 per barrel.
