Metro Bank Holdings PLC announced the appointment of Matthew Stevens as a non-executive director, effective February 1, 2027. Stevens, formerly chief risk officer of Barclays UK, will succeed Catherine Brown as chair of the Risk Oversight Committee upon her retirement, subject to regulatory approval.
Stevens brings over 30 years of experience in retail banking, corporate banking, wholesale credit, and enterprise risk leadership to the role. Metro Bank chair Robert Sharpe stated that Stevens’s background in UK retail and corporate banking risk management would support the bank’s strategy and growth, adding valuable perspectives to the board.
Brown, who joined Metro Bank’s board in 2018, will continue in her current roles until the 2027 Annual General Meeting, after which she will step down and not seek re-election, in line with UK Listing Rules 6.4.6 and 6.4.8. Metro Bank will announce a successor for Brown’s position as Senior Independent Director in due course.
Stevens will step down from Barclays UK prior to assuming his new role at Metro Bank.
