Dolby Laboratories and Meta announced on Tuesday at Meta Connect an expansion of Dolby technologies across Meta's devices and platforms. John Couling, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories, said the collaboration brings more emotionally engaging experiences as entertainment, creation and social sharing converge.
Meta's AI glasses will be the first global consumer device capable of capturing audio in Dolby Atmos, enabling users to record moments and share them on Instagram with spatial sound characteristics. The company's forthcoming VR device, scheduled for launch in 2027, will support both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for movies, shows, sports, concerts and other VR content. Dolby Vision was added to Instagram in 2025.
