Lumen Technologies (NYSE: LUMN) said Tuesday it has expanded its Multi-Cloud Gateway service to more than 10 million U.S. business locations, extending access beyond its fiber network footprint to include third-party connected sites.
The expansion allows enterprises to integrate additional locations into a programmable, cloud-ready network without requiring architectural redesigns, according to Jim Fowler, chief technology and product officer at Lumen. Previously, the service was limited to sites directly connected to Lumen’s fiber infrastructure.
Qualified third-party locations can now access the Multi-Cloud Gateway through Lumen’s Ethernet Fabric Connect within the Lumen Connect portal or via application programming interfaces (APIs). The platform enables centralized management of multiple sites, including policy-based routing, network segmentation, and digital management tools.
The service targets use cases such as healthcare data transfers, financial services branch networking, and manufacturing facility integration. Fowler highlighted the alignment with AI and multi-cloud strategies, stating that seamless network connectivity across all business locations is critical for such initiatives.
Lumen, headquartered in Denver, did not provide specific financial details related to the expansion or its expected impact on revenue or customer adoption.
