Italy's blue-chip FTSE MIB index gained 0.89% at Thursday's close in Milan, driven by advances in travel and leisure, telecoms and financial shares.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 403 to 288, with 52 stocks unchanged. The index's rise followed broader European equity strength amid stable energy prices and a steady euro.
Among top gainers, gaming operator Lottomatica Group SpA led with a 5.77% increase to close at €24.20, while automaker Stellantis NV added 4.21% to €4.70 and Telecom Italia rose 2.79% to €7.76.
Decliners included luxury goods maker Brunello Cucinelli, down 1.72% to €82.44, spirits group Davide Campari Milano SpA, which fell 1.69% to €5.70, and defense and aerospace group Leonardo SpA, which shed 1.46% to €50.64.
Commodities showed mixed performance, with Brent crude for November delivery down 0.14% at $95.50 per barrel and gold futures for December delivery up 2.80% at $4,538.40 per troy ounce. Crude oil for October delivery rose 0.32% to $91.30 per barrel.
The euro held steady against the dollar, with EUR/USD flat at 1.16, while the U.S. Dollar Index futures fell 0.62% to 98.93. EUR/GBP was little changed at 0.86.
