An Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza Strip killed two Palestinians, including a 3-year-old boy, according to local health authorities. The strike occurred near a bakery in Deir Al-Balah on Sunday, August 30, 2026, and also injured several others.
Gaza health officials identified the victims as Hussam Nusair, an adult man, and Tayyem Hamdan, the child. The strike followed an Israeli military statement claiming the target was a Hamas militant, though no further details were provided. Since the U.S.-backed ceasefire took effect in October 2025, Gaza health authorities report more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed in the territory.
Israel’s military separately stated that four of its soldiers have been killed since the ceasefire began. Hamas accused Israel of violating the truce and undermining a broader plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the conflict, which includes an Israeli withdrawal and Hamas disarmament.
