Industrial Physics, a global test and measurement group backed by KKR-affiliated funds, has acquired Vitrek, a provider of electronic test and precision measurement equipment, for an undisclosed sum. The transaction closed upon signing, with KKR set to support Industrial Physics in extending an employee ownership program to Vitrek’s workforce.
Vitrek operates under three brands—Vitrek, MTI, and GaGe—designing and manufacturing electrical safety testing equipment, power analyzers, engine vibration balancing systems, and precision measurement instruments. Its customer base spans aerospace, defense, semiconductor, and medical device industries. Industrial Physics, which operates 12 specialist brands across 19 industries in 75 countries, said Vitrek’s technologies and technical expertise align with its expansion strategy in test and measurement markets.
The acquisition follows Vitrek’s prior ownership by Branford Castle Fund, LP and Branford Castle Partners, a private market investor focused on lower middle-market companies with up to $15 million in EBITDA. Stifel served as financial advisor to Branford Castle and Vitrek, while Akerman acted as legal advisor. Kirkland & Ellis LLP provided legal counsel to Industrial Physics.
Industrial Physics is backed by KKR, which has extended employee ownership programs to over 200,000 non-senior management employees across more than 90 portfolio companies since 2011. The firm plans to integrate Vitrek’s operations under its existing structure.
