Swiss food technology company Higgsfield AG has raised $400 million in a funding round that values the company at $5.4 billion, according to a company statement.
The Series D financing round was led by existing and new investors, though specific backers were not disclosed. Higgsfield plans to use the capital to accelerate product development, expand manufacturing capacity, and enter new international markets, the company said.
Higgsfield, which specializes in alternative protein solutions, has seen rapid growth since its last valuation in 2022, when it was assessed at approximately $2.8 billion. The latest round nearly doubles its valuation in under two years, reflecting investor confidence in the food-tech sector amid rising demand for sustainable protein alternatives.
The company did not provide further details on the allocation of funds or timelines for expansion. Higgsfield operates in the alternative protein space, competing with firms focused on plant-based and lab-grown meat substitutes.
The funding round underscores the broader trend of increased investment in food innovation, particularly in Europe, where regulatory support for sustainable food systems has strengthened in recent years.
