Greek equities closed higher on Tuesday, with the Athens General Composite Index advancing 0.81% to a five-year peak. The index’s gain was driven by strength in banking, construction and travel shares, offsetting declines in energy and utilities.
The Athens Stock Exchange recorded a net decline in advancers over decliners, with 50 stocks rising against 60 falling and 28 unchanged. The benchmark index reached a new five-year high by the close.
Lavipharm SA led gains with a 5.51% rise to 1.65, followed by Cenergy Holdings SA, which added 5.18% to close at 23.14. Allwyn AG advanced 2.75% to 14.56. On the downside, HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings SA fell 2.77% to 15.09, Profile Syst declined 1.29% to 9.93 and Thessaloniki Water and Sewage Co SA dropped 1.23% to 4.80.
Commodities ended lower. December gold futures slipped 0.08% to $4,694.00 per troy ounce. October WTI crude fell 2.93% to $82.52 per barrel, while November Brent crude declined 2.78% to $88.02 per barrel.
