Greek equities closed higher on Friday, with the Athens General Composite Index up 0.49% as gains in banking, construction and travel offset declines in energy and industrials.
Advancing stocks led decliners by a margin of 58 to 48, with 27 issues unchanged. The benchmark index added 0.49% to close at session highs, reflecting a mixed but predominantly positive trading session.
Among individual movers, Ekter led percentage gains with a 4.34% advance to 5.29, followed by Piraeus Port Authority’s 3.36% rise to 41.50. Helleniq Energy Holdings climbed 2.11% to 15.47. On the downside, Unibios Holdings fell 2.48% to 2.75, while Allwyn declined 2.33% to 13.82 and Motor Oil Hellas dropped 1.64% to 60.10.
Commodities showed divergent trends, with gold futures for December delivery down 1.28% to $4,604.20 per troy ounce and crude oil for October delivery falling 0.57% to $83.05 per barrel. Brent crude for November delivery declined 0.43% to $88.14 per barrel.
The euro held steady against the dollar, with EUR/USD flat at 1.16, while the U.S. Dollar Index futures rose 0.38% to 99.47. EUR/GBP was little changed at 0.86.
